Marketing Secrets of Silicon Valley

siliconvalley

Silicon Valley is an area of land about 25 miles long and 10 miles wide, and is approximately 45 miles southeast of San Francisco. The original companies that grew up here were all based in one way or another upon the semiconductor which gave rise to a new name for the area: “Silicon Valley”, a term coined by Don Hoefler in 1975.

This presentation describes the history of Silicon Valley from 1891 when Governor Leland and Jane Stanford gave land for Stanford University to be founded. The history includes Hewlett Packard, Google buying 15 month old YouTube for $1.6bn and the Apple launch of the iPhone.

This research conducted by Nick Milner, was supported by the Mais Bursary from The Worshipful Company of Marketors.
