Our Methodology

We use a clear and well tested methodology called “Business Valuation Performance Management” to support all our client projects. This methodology organises our work in three broad areas:



We divide each of these broad areas into a series of specific activities to help solve our clients’ problems. Our clients can select one or more of these activities in order to achieve their objectives. The benefit of our approach is that it is designed to drive the financial performance of our clients’ company as well as delivering excellent strategy and effective marketing and PR programmes.

Our methodology for growing company value has delivered measurable results for investors and owners. The methodology helps our clients develop strategies and marketing plans that identify and deliver significant value.

How we work with clients
We usually work with investors and leadership teams in our clients’ organisations.

Some of our clients engage us to work on single stand-alone programmes whilst others retain us for longer programmes. In the latter case, this may involve reviewing the client’s current situation, identifying areas that need focus and then outlining a “costed” programme of work.

Where clients already have marketing expertise in-house, we can either guide or complement the existing marketing skills that are present. In companies where there is no specialist marketing capability, Milner has supported clients with a number of business models including:

  • being available for advice and call-off pieces of work
  • executing a pre-agreed plan of work
  • providing a dedicated marketing person(s) at the client’s premises
  • “in-sourcing” a full (but part-time) marketing team

In cases where a company has a senior marketing professional, clients can benefit from Milner’s experience of driving marketing in the right direction to maximise valuation for a future trade sale, floatation or fund raiser. Our M&A experience of developing Information Memoranda and Investor Presentations, organising Data Room content and having our work scrutinised during the Due Diligence processes means that Milner ensures clients focus on the real value driving marketing strategies and activities at all times.
